Robert WinstonA master craftsman, Robert Winston began his woodworking career as a young boy building musical instruments. After a career creating a variety of furniture, he now focuses on heirloom rocking chairs and dining chairs of cherry, oak, and most often from black walnut harvested from 200-year-old trees, which he has cut and dried to his specifications.Winston studied engineering at Lehigh University and received a BA in Natural Resources in 1971. While attending university, he continued to create sculptural pieces and was awarded First Place in Sculpture at the Intercollegiate Art Show at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. In 1975 Winston took First Place in the Bucks County Craft Show, New Hope, Pennsylvania. Many types of woodworking have influenced Winston, including the works of Wharton Eshrick, San Maloof, and George Nagashima. He continues to develop his unique style in his ever-developing line of tables, chairs, and cabinets. |
