Arthur Norby is a sculptor who meets challenges and breaks stereotypes. As Pablo Picasso refused to be restricted to a single formula, Arthur Norby continues to expand the aura of his sculpture and paintings. He has been an artist as long as he can remember, although he pursued several careers before turning to art.

I wasn't until the age of thirty-eight that Norby found his destined role as a "real artist." Promising himself one year as an Arthur Norbyartist was the decision which began a twenty-five year career and a reputation as a truly creative person.

Norby's style is easy to recognize but difficult to define. He has been a lifelong student of the human figure and a disciple of classical presentation. Although his sculpture has many personalities, it is always about the beauty of form with a straightforward, classical approach. In his sculpture you will find the dynamics and passion of Rodin, the simplicity of form by Nadelmann, and the inner strength of sculpture by Alan Hauser.

Norby's robust and whimsical figures are almost antithetical to his previous twenty years of sculpture. When pressed about his fascination with chubby people, he describes their size as somewhere between Rubens and Botero. "I have a split personality - fortunate we're both artists!" is his usual response, but at times he humorously alludes to several artistic personalities.
